Trim Parish Centre, Trim, Co. Meath

Client: Trim and Boardsmill Parish

Construction of a single storey side and rear extension to the existing Parish Centre.

The existing Parochial House, a listed building, was refurbished (inclusive of M & E services). Protected features throughout the building (windows, cornices, frieze, timber flooring, stairs, lime walls and ceilings) were delicately restored to their original look.

The grounds of the building were finished with a new macadam surface together with associated services.

Client: Kells Heritage Centre

This project consisted of hacking off the external pointing render to this protected period building and re-pointing of entire building with lime mortar.

The rear external sliding sash windows and door were in a state of disrepair and had to be replaced as well.

The internal works consisted of hacking of internal plaster and drilling and treating the walls to stop the spread of dry rot.

Internal floor boards were also lifted and treated for dry rot and vulcanised to prevent dry rot in the future.

Lime House, Rockfarm (Straw Bale Eco-Build)

Client: Rockfarm Eco-Tourism

Kercon Construction were delighted to be involved in this unusual straw bale eco-build at Rock Farm, Slane Castle.
The skeletal structure of the building consisted of timbers with flinch beams offering  additional supports. Straw bales were packed tightly into the skeletal frame resulting in the formation of the walls.
The bales were finished with clay and straw lime render. Other interesting features of this eco-build included the installation of the grass Bauder Roofing System which aids biodiversity and the ecologically adapt solution to waste disposal; The Aquatron System.
