Esker Lawn Cemetery, lucan


​Kercon Construction was contracted by Brian McElroy Funeral Directors for the development of this state-of-the-art lawn cemetery, which blends complex civil engineering with natural landscaping. The project included the following:
  • Burial Plots: Construction of approximately 2,730 burial plots across a terraced valley landscape.
  • Building Works: Construction of a single-story management building, including public toilets and a dedicated storage facility.
  • Retaining Structures: Installation of large, curved retaining walls, with some sections exceeding 2m in height.
  • Water Management: Installation of a biologically filtered, free-flowing water garden system powered by a submersible pump and linked to the main drainage network.
  • Environmental Engineering: De-culverting of existing underground drainage to create a new rock-edged watercourse with aquatic planting.
  • Infrastructure: Construction of a new car park, site access roads, and pedestrian footpaths.
  • Landscaping: Extensive soft and hard landscaping to integrate functionality with the natural environment.

Go Ahead Bus Depot, ballymount


Kercon Construction was awarded this critical transport infrastructure project by KSNPM on behalf of Go Ahead Limited. The works involved a significant extension of the existing bus depot yard to enhance operational capacity and modernise the facility’s infrastructure.
The comprehensive scope of work included:
  • Parking & Capacity: Construction of 221 dedicated bus spaces, 33 car parking spaces, 5 motorcycle spaces, and 30 bicycle parking spaces.
  • Civil Works: Installation of a new vehicular and pedestrian entrance, along with the diversion of existing underground services to accommodate the expanded layout.
  • Green Infrastructure: Installation of 8 Electric Car Charging points (E-car charges) to support sustainable transport initiatives.
  • Security & Perimeter: Installation of extensive high-security gating and fencing across the majority of the site boundary.
  • Live Environment Management: The project was successfully managed and executed within a live, high-traffic Bus Depot environment, ensuring zero disruption to daily transit operations.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, showcasing Kercon’s ability to handle complex logistics and essential utility diversions in a functioning industrial setting for Go Ahead Limited.

Shamrock Renewables biofuel plant, kells


​Kercon was commissioned by Shamrock Renewables to deliver this state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly Bio Fuel Plant. The facility was designed to facilitate the mass production of heat-efficient "Willow Warm" briquettes, representing a significant investment in sustainable energy infrastructure.
The project required a multidisciplinary approach, combining heavy earthworks with precision structural engineering. The core scope of works included:
  • Site Preparation: Extensive earthworks and ground stabilization to prepare the site for heavy industrial use.
  • Civil & Structural Engineering: Construction of reinforced concrete foundations, specialized floor slabs to support heavy processing machinery, and primary structural elements for the plant building.
  • Water Management: Design and construction of a large-scale Attenuation Pond as part of a comprehensive civil and drainage package to manage site runoff sustainably.
  • ​Specialised Infrastructure: Installation of various miscellaneous technical items and utility connections required for specialized biofuel production equipment.
The project was successfully delivered on time and within budget, adhering to the highest industry standards for safety and quality. Kercon is proud to have played a key role in bringing this worthwhile green energy project to fruition.

Belmont Avenue civil engineering works, donnybrook


​This project involved the delivery of comprehensive civil and structural works for a high-end residential development on a complex LIVE site. The project required precise coordination to manage extensive groundworks while ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding neighbourhood.
The core scope of works included:


  • Drainage & Utilities: Installation of specialized stormwater and foul drainage systems, featuring attenuation piping to manage surface water runoff effectively.
  • Groundworks & Foundations: Execution of major earthworks, riser walls, and stone fill. Structural elements included piled walls and reinforced concrete foundations for three large detached dwellings.
  • Electrical Infrastructure: Installation of comprehensive underground ducting, pathway lighting, and coordinated utility connections to support the new residences.
  • Hard & Soft Landscaping: Construction of durable paved footpaths with integrated accessibility features. The aesthetic was enhanced through the installation of retaining structures, green spaces, and high-quality landscaping to seamlessly integrate the site with its surroundings.
The project was executed with technical precision, ensuring strict compliance with high safety standards and architectural requirements. Kercon successfully navigated the constraints of the tight urban site to deliver a high-quality finish for the client.

esb EV Charging Bays, Carrickmines


​Kercon Construction was contracted by IPUT PLC for the development of this state-of-the-art electric vehicle ESB charging hub, integrating modern infrastructure into a high-traffic retail environment. The project included the following:

  • Civil Works: Construction of the primary EV charging station footprint, including specialized paving and perimeter balustrades.

  • Power Infrastructure: Execution of specialized footings and structural works to support the ESB substation slab.

  • Utility Integration: Verification, identification, and seamless connection to existing site services including electrical and water networks.

  • Live Site Management:  Implementation of a complex traffic and pedestrian management plan to maintain public safety and retail access during construction for IPUT PLC.
  • Safety Coordination: Acting as Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) to ensure full regulatory compliance and operational safety. ​

  • Hard Landscaping: Integration of the new charging bays with existing retail park surfaces to ensure functional and aesthetic continuity.

boliden tara mines Underground Works, navan

provides essential underground construction and maintenance services for Boliden Tara Mines. Operating in a complex subterranean environment, our team delivers high-specification structural and civil solutions that support the mine’s continuous 24/7 operations and stringent safety protocols.

The scope of specialized underground works includes:
  • Subterranean Facility Construction: Delivery of critical infrastructure at various depths, including the construction of 750 Level Fixed Plant & Canteen and specialized 1140 Level Wash Bay & Washrooms.
  • Heavy Duty Maintenance Workshops: Execution of structural works for underground workshops, including high-durability floor surfacing, window replacements, and specialized Jumbo Firewalls for hazardous area protection.
  • Specialized Concrete Masonry: Precision installation of Concrete Plinths (Hobbit Hole) and Curved Ring Beam Trims, demonstrating our ability to deliver complex structural geometries in confined underground spaces.
  • Operational Support Infrastructure: Construction and maintenance of essential service areas, including Hose Bays, Tumbler Wash Bays, and specialized painting of industrial pits.
  • Mill & Surface Extensions: Execution of structural extensions and high-level roof maintenance to ensure the integrity of the mine’s processing facilities.
  • Underground Safety & Compliance: All works are conducted under rigorous mining safety standards, involving specialized plant machinery (mini-diggers, telehandlers) and expert logistics management for deep-level site access.

Randalstown Stage 5A & 5b, Tailing Pond Dam Raise, navan


Kercon Construction was awarded the contract for the completion of the Stage 5A & 5B Dam Construction at the Randalstown Tailings Facility for Boliden Tara Mines. This high-scale engineering project involved a critical 5.5m raise on the existing Stage 5A & 5B infrastructure to increase operational capacity.

The project scope and technical highlights included:
  • Earthworks & Excavation: Comprehensive site preparation of the borrow area, involving the excavation and strategic placement of 800,000 – 900,000 m³ of soil and stone.
  • On-Site Material Processing: To ensure efficiency and sustainability, all required rock was sourced and crushed directly on-site before being integrated into the structure.
  • Structural Dam Construction: Construction of the primary dam wall using specialized glacial materials, executed over soft tailings—a process requiring high-level technical precision.
  • Pre-loading & Stabilization: Movement and redeployment of pre-loading materials, utilizing crushed rock to stabilize existing tailings in preparation for the raise.
  • Drainage Infrastructure: Installation of 7km of specialized drainage systems to manage water flow and ensure the long-term structural integrity of the facility.

IFAC Development, Civil Engineering & Groundworks, trim


​Kercon Construction delivered the full civil engineering and groundworks package for the new IFAC development in Trim, Co. Meath. This project stands out for its large-scale environmental engineering, specifically the installation of a massive surface water management system.
The project’s technical scope and key highlights included:
  • Major Attenuation System: Installation of a high-capacity 1240m³ attenuation tank, a critical component of the site’s sustainable drainage (SuDS) strategy to manage storm water runoff.
  • Drainage & Utilities: Expert construction of comprehensive surface water and foul drainage systems, along with the installation of extensive underground ducting for site-wide utilities.
  • Specialized Permeable Paving: Implementation of permeable paving solutions to enhance site drainage efficiency and environmental compliance.
  • Roadways & Infrastructure: Construction of all site roadways, concrete kerbing, and high-durability footpaths to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian access.
  • Site Earthworks & Grading: Precision earthworks and site grading to prepare the landscape for final development, including the management of soil levels and embankments.
  • Boundary & Feature Masonry: Construction of site boundaries and feature stone-clad retaining walls, combining structural necessity with high-end architectural aesthetics.
  • Hard Landscaping: Delivery of all external finishing works, ensuring the building’s exterior matches the professional standards of the IFAC brand.

Gowan auto motor distribution, citywest business campus


​Kercon Construction was appointed to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment and infrastructure upgrade for Gowan Distributors Ltd. The project involved a blend of internal modernizations and specialized external civil works to enhance the facility's operational efficiency and safety standards.
The project scope and key deliverables included:
  • Internal Refurbishment: Complete modernization of internal WC facilities to meet contemporary standards, including high-quality finishes and fixtures.
  • M&E Systems Modification: Expert modification of existing mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems to integrate seamlessly with the newly redesigned layout.
  • Fire Safety & Compliance: Implementation of remedial fire stopping measures to enhance structural integrity and ensure full regulatory compliance.
  • Security Infrastructure: Installation of bespoke mesh cages around the Main Distribution Board (MDB), providing high-level security while maintaining easy access for maintenance.
  • Car Wash Bay Construction: Installation of a new external reinforced concrete base specifically designed for a high-traffic car wash bay.
  • Water Management Altyapı: Construction of essential drainage infrastructure, including the installation of silt tanks, a dedicated pump station, and a petrol interceptor for environmentally responsible water management.

tarmac Carpark, Northwest Buisness Park, Ballcoolin


​Kercon Construction was appointed to deliver a comprehensive design-to-completion carpark facility at Northwest Business Park, Ballycoolin. This large-scale project involved heavy civil engineering, complex water management systems, and high-specification site security infrastructure.
The project scope and technical deliverables included:
  • Demolition & Bulk Earthworks: Execution of bulk excavation and efficient off-site removal, alongside the strategic breaking out of existing reinforced concrete (RC) slabs and walls to prepare the site.
  • High-Capacity Attenuation: Installation of a massive 1,550m³ attenuation tank to manage rainwater runoff, integrated with a Klargester Bypass Separator to ensure environmental compliance and water quality.
  • Full Utility Integration: Installation of critical site services, including specialized storm water drainage and extensive ESB ducting networks.
  • EV Readiness: Provision of future-proofed ducting systems specifically designed for the seamless installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
  • Site Security & Access Control: Installation of a high-security perimeter including fencing, a motorized entrance sliding gate, pedestrian access gates, and a heavy-duty turnstile system.
  • Surface Engineering & Paving: Delivery of a multi-layered surface package consisting of high-grade tarmacadam, precast concrete kerbs, concrete footpaths, and specialized concrete islands.
  • Final Site Commissioning: Completion of the project with full site-wide lighting, new site entrance construction, and precision thermal line marking for optimal traffic flow.

large scale Watermain Installation


​Kercon Construction was appointed by DGSL Building to execute the watermain installation element of this comprehensive civil engineering contract. The project required high-precision utility works to ensure robust infrastructure for the site.

The scope of work included:
  • Pipeline Installation: Expert installation of 1,100m of 160mm HDPE water main and 250m of 110mm HDPE water main.
  • Infrastructure Components: Fitting of all necessary fire hydrants, sluice valves, and bulk water meters to meet site requirements.
  • Technical Standards: All works were completed in strict accordance with Irish Water Standard Details and Codes of Practice, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Specialized Techniques: Our crews utilized advanced Electro Fusion techniques for both mains and services, maintaining the highest levels of structural integrity.
  • Quality & Hygiene: Implementation of rigorous Hygiene in Water protocols to protect the safety and quality of the supply.
  • Project Integration: This work served as an essential foundational element for the successful completion of the wider civil engineering project for DGSL Building.

major water drainage Project new Housing Development, trim


​Kercon Construction was appointed by DGSL Building to deliver a critical civil engineering and groundworks package for a new housing development in Trim. A key focus of this contract was the implementation of a comprehensive sustainable urban drainage system (SUDS).

The scope of work included:
  • Attenuation Systems: Installation of a high-capacity 1,240m³ Attenuation Tank designed to manage stormwater runoff and mitigate flood risk for the development.
  • Water Quality Management: Integration of an Oil Interceptor to ensure environmental protection by filtering pollutants before water enters the local network.
  • Flow Control: Installation of a Hydrobrake system to precisely regulate the discharge rate of surface water.
  • Drainage Infrastructure: Execution of all associated deep drainage works and specialized pipework required to link the attenuation system to the main site infrastructure.
  • Groundworks Excellence: Full excavation, bedding, and backfilling operations conducted under strict engineering specifications to ensure long-term structural integrity.
